I’ve only just learned, thanks to a Christmas card from Ed and Jean Christman, that their good friend Tracy Early, the only known freelance religion journalist, died more than a year ago.
I had the good fortune of being invited to his Upper West Side
(rent-controlled!) apartment for a Wake Forest soiree the day I moved to
New York. A great loss to his friends and many others in the religious
journalism community.
