Behind this bookcase is the Secret Annexe, where Anne Frank and her
family hid during World War II, until they were betrayed and deported to
the concentration camps. Visiting the Anne Frank House was deeply
moving, a real highlight of my trip to Amsterdam.
And I am now rereading the Diary, which is magnificent.
